THE BAVARIAN CHEVAULEGERS (MEANING LIGHT-HORSE) REGIMENTS HAD A LONG HISTORY IN BAVARIA.THE 1ST ROYAL BAVARIAN CHEVAU-LÉGERS “EMPEROR NICHOLAS OF RUSSIA” (KÖNIGLICH BAYERISCHES CHEVAULEGERS-REGIMENT “KAISER NIKOLAUS VON RUßLAND” NR. 1) WERE A LIGHT CAVALRY REGIMENT OF THE ROYAL BAVARIAN ARMY. THE REGIMENTAL COLONEL-IN-CHIEF WAS CZAR NICHOLAS II OF RUSSIA. THE REGIMENT WAS FORMED IN 1682 AND FOUGHT IN THE BATTLE OF VIENNA, THE GREAT TURKISH WAR, THE WAR OF THE SPANISH SUCCESSION, THE WAR OF THE AUSTRIAN SUCCESSION, THE NAPOLEONIC WARS, THE AUSTRO-PRUSSIAN WAR, THE FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR, AND WORLD WAR I. THE REGIMENT WAS GARRISONED IN NURNBURG UNTIL IT WAS DISBANDED IN 1919.

TUNIC: STAHLGRUN (STEEL GREEN) IN EFFECT THIS IS A RATHER DARK GREEN TONE WITH AN OLIVE CAST, FACING COLOR: CRIMSON, BUTTONS: GOLD EPAULETTES: CRESENTS GOLD, STRAPS EDGE AND FIELD OF THE EPAULETTES IS CRIMSON, THE BRIDLES TO THE EPAULETTES ARE SILVER WITH TWO LIGHT BLUE STRIPES, THE FRINGE ON THE EPAULETTE IS SILVER.

POUCH BELT: RED CLOTH FACED WITH SILVER AND WITH THREE LIGHT BLUE LINES AND THE RED CLOTH SHOWING AT THE EDGES.

POUCH: RED LEATHER WITH SILVER PLATED LID SHOWING THE BAVARIAN COAT OF ARMS IN SILVER, ALL HARDWARE ON THE BELT IS SILVER.

WAIST SASH: SILVER WITH LIGHT BLUE STRIPES

HELMET: BLACK LEATHER, BAVARIAN STATE ARMS, SPIKE, CHIN SCALES AND TRIM IN GOLD, LEFT COCKADE-BLACK-WHITE-RED, RIGHT COCKADE- SILVER-LIGHT BLUE-SILVER. PLUME WHITE HAIR
